Gator Gear and Gator Giving

Oh, Hey Parents!

Eboneé, here, your PTA 2022-23 President with a special edition Gator’s Tales of news & insight from behind the scenes of your PTA.

Let me first begin by saying how much I’ve enjoyed speaking with you, waving to you, listening to you, and meeting your children.  This is my second year with our Gator Community and everything we do impresses me.  Let me share what’s impressive to me from the past four weeks.

I’m impressed by the number of families that want to contribute their Gator support — there are 110 parents/guardians/grandparents that have joined our PTA — with or without hesitation — we are grateful you have joined us!  For our parents who’ve yet to make up their mind — feel free to email me (@Glenwood PTA) and share your thoughts/concerns/questions about moving forward & joining us.

I’m impressed by the number of families who’ve ordered Gator Gear!  Not only have you ordered 137 t-shirts and 89 hoodies — but you’ve donated 17 t-shirts and 3 hoodies!  I must say, as a kindergarten parent last year, I didn’t order Gator Gear.  But to my surprise — my son came home with a t-shirt.  I get teary eyed thinking about which of you could have donated that t-shirt for him.  I want to let you know, pre-orders for Gator Gear will be ending 9.30.22 at 11:45 PM EST.  There’s still time to get your order in, here’s the link – https://glenwood.memberhub.com/store?limit=21&live=true

Here’s some insight – if you miss the opportunity to make an order, t-shirts & hoodies will be available to order again in November for the holidays with a price increase.  T-shirts will be $16.00 and hoodies will be $25.00.

I was impressed to see this as a parent last year, but as PTA President I’m impressed to see Gator Giving unfold!  I have to tell you, Gator Giving was the initiative I was most hesitant about.  I thought — I do not want to be the leader that doesn’t support meeting our financial goal that literally supports students, staff, & families.  It’s so many individuals counting on this amount of money to be raised for this school year.  I’m proud to say we’ve raised 25% of our goal.

Here’s some insight – CONGRATULATIONS to our 2nd grade classes as they’ve had — the most — families contribute during this Gator Giving season.  I challenge every grade level to give our 2nd grade classes a friendly competition!

But wouldn’t an incentive also be great?  Our PTA feels it is — every family that donates (previous to or after this email) to help us reach our $25K goal will be entered into a drawing to receive a free Family Portrait Session.  The raffle will take place once Gator Giving has concluded; the exact date is to be announced.  *Family Portraits for our school will be held Saturday, November 12 and the sessions are $25.00 (I will be sharing more of those details in the Gator Communicators next week).

Also – did you know your employer may match your Gator Giving contribution?  Here’s the nonprofit status information they may request to support us — our Glenwood PTA’s EIN is 56-1196269.  If you have a business or know a business that would want to donate, corporate sponsor giving is available and the benefits are listed on the donation link.

Gator Giving is the one time of year we like to ask families for financial donations & contributions — meeting this goal will help us avoid asking for funds later in the school year where we’re all looking forward to spring & summer breaks.  We’re parents too — and we get it!  Let’s give once to give all year!

Our $25K budget goal covers (in no particular order):
– Field trips
– School wide snacks
– Social events for the kids (and their siblings)
– A new monthly subscription of books for our children to enjoy inside their new library
– School supplies for instruction
– Remarkable events like Culture Night for the family to enjoy — and we have a Chinese New Year event on the schedule this year too
– Staff/Teacher appreciation events
– And much more!

There you have it!

I’ll see you in the hallways, the kiss & go, or our next social event!
